The Color of Autism

We are a Non-Profit (501 c3) organization committed to educating and assisting African American families with Autistic children. Autism affects children of every race, ethnic group and socioeconomic status. African-American children are frequently confronted with late diagnosis or misdiagnosis. African American Autism Support is Vital to the development of underserved children. Our goal is to help families identify the warning signs of autism early on. We can start to overturn these disparities by helping African-Americans with autism reach their full potential. Empowering families with information on autism that they can use to advocate services for their child.

The Current

Serve 30 towns in Windham and southern Windsor Counties via 13 bus routes, vans for the elderly or disabled, and volunteer drivers.

The dRC staff works to enable people of all disabilities of all ages to live as independently as possible. We do that in a variety of ways including independent living skills training, peer mentoring, advocacy, facilitating transition from institutional care to the community and from school to adult life, and by providing information to individuals, their families, and the community on different services and supports.

Advocating for the legal rights of people with disabilities through information, referral, advice, and legal representation and advocacy to individuals with disabilities on a wide range of disability-related problems.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB)

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is an FCC program to help families and households struggling to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. This new benefit will connect eligible households to jobs, critical healthcare services, virtual classrooms, and so much more.
