The mission is to provide leadership in addressing issues that relate to older Monterey County residents; to develop community-based systems of care that provide services which support independence and protect quality of life; and to promote citizen involvement in the planning and delivery of services.

The Monterey County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is part of a nationwide network of services designed to assist low-income residents as they age. Every local AAA determines the priorities in their area and then decides how to use limited resources to meets those needs. As a result, there can be big differences in AAAs across California and the United States.

Montgomery Area Paratransit (MAP) is a transportation service provided to those who cannot, for physical or cognitive reasons, ride the City Bus system. MAP is available the same hours as the Fixed Route Buses and provides service within a 3/4 mile corridor of fixed routes.
